When you have to ask a game's director, "Can a rabbit eat that golden retriever?" you know you're being shown a very unusual game indeed. That's what happened when I visited Sony's studios in Japan to see Tokyo Jungle, which is about to be released in the UK.
The premise for the game is simple: there are no humans left on a post-apocalyptic Earth; animals have taken over Tokyo and are fighting for their survival. You play as one of those animals.
In fact you can control one of nearly 100 breeds of animal -- from dog, chicken and cheetah, right up to mammoth, cow, kangaroo and crocodile -- and you must roam the streets eating other animals, mating to build a clan of offspring, keep your species alive and complete symbiotic tasks for other animals.
