Professional photographers use full-frame 35mm DSLRs; consumers tend to opt for more affordable "cropped sensor" alternatives, such as the 60D or 600D. Canon has just announced the EOS 6D, which takes some of the most attractive features of full-frame cameras and wraps it in a body aimed at more price-conscious enthusiasts.
This is in fact Canon's most affordable full-frame camera to date, and it's designed to be used with the company's EF-series lenses -- the same glass the pros use. Class-wise, it sits above the 7D, but below the 5D Mark III (or Mark II, depending on who you ask). The instant advantage here is greater image resolution when compared to a cropped sensor model and hopefully greater image quality, too.
