The House of Commons was supposedly designed to have benches that were two sabres' width apart. But we allegedly live in a time where the pen (and indeed the iPad) is mightier than the sword. In such an environment, and with rumours of the Palace of Westminster closing soon for repairs, perhaps it's time to more closely examine how technology could make a difference in the UK's cradle of power.
Today, the most obvious show of technology in the Commons are the microphones and cameras that project events to the outside world. However, while this is the more visible manifestation of events in the House, the real potential lies in creations like the Hansard -- the text record of every word spoken.
