Swedish startup Foap lets anyone with a smartphone (read: iPhone) become a stock photography seller. Having launched in the Sweden in May, it has now launched in the UK and the US.
Users can upload their photos to Foap's marketplace, where the pictures can be bought for $10 each (£6.40). In a model echoing that of citizen journalism site Demotix, 50 percent of that goes to the photographer and 50 percent goes to Foap. All photos have to be manually approved to make sure that they are of sufficiently high quality and hipster filters are banned.
