Name check
Following Microsoft’s unveiling of its two Surface tablet devices, we felt a sense of d?j? vu. We couldn’t quite put our finger on it but we were sure we’d heard the name somewhere before.?
Turns out we had, in the shape of a 40-inch HD LCD touchscreen device that saw a collaboration between Microsoft and Samsung. The Samsung SUR40 Surface was unveiled back at CES in 2011. Though still in production it will now be known as the Samsung SUR40 with Microsoft PixelSense.?
It seems Microsoft wanted the Surface title for its own tablet brand and had a quiet word with Samsung.?Indeed visit Microsoft’s official Surface page and at the bottom you’ll see a footnote asking: “Looking for the Samsung SUR40 with Microsoft Pixelsense? Visit www.pixelsense.com."
