Archos unveils three quad-core Platinum tablets: 8-inch, 9.7-inch, 11.6-inch

Archos has unveiled its new line of Platinum tablets - perhaps its best batch yet -?in 8-inch, 9.7-inch and 11.6-inch versions.

While the tablets feature different screen sizes, internal specs remain the same. The French-based company has packed in a high-definition IPS display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, front and back cameras and mini-HDMI and Micro SD ports.?

Let's get down to specifics. The 8-inch Archos 80 Platinum will be available in February for ?179 in the UK and $199 in the US. Its display has?a 1024 x 768 resolution that Archos compares to the Kindle Fire HD 8.9, calling it twice as fast "for the fraction of the cost".

Its iPad competitor, the 97 Platinum HD, features a 2048 x 1536 resolution that Archos says compares to the iPad's display. The 97 Platinum HD is also available in February for??249 in the UK and $299 in the US.

Finally, the Archos 116 Platinum is an 11.6-inch tablet that features a 1920 x 1080 resolution, which Archos describes as "unlike anything on the market". It will be available in February for??299 and $349.

More-detailed specs were not offered, but we have an inkling Archos will show off the tablets at Mobile World Congress 2013. We hope to get a look at how Archos's new line really compares to its competitors.?
