YPlan is the latest in last-minute event discovery -- but can an app succeed by foregoing personalisation and tailored recommendations in favour of simplicity?
Rytis Vitkauskas, the Lithuanian co-founder and CEO of London-based YPlan, believes so.
The app he and his company are launching this week does one thing: it shows Londoners a spread of up to ten events happening on the evening of the current day. These could include music gigs, wine tasting sessions, silent discos or theatre in the capital's West End, and are hand-picked by YPlan's editors, which include ex-employees of Time Out and Airbnb.
