ISS astronauts plan spacewalk to mend ammonia leak

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station have said they are preparing to undertake an emergency spacewalk on Saturday 11 May to stop the "very steady stream" of ammonia that's leaking from the station's cooling system.

Nasa has already taken precautionary steps to reroute the power aboard the ISS -- the ammonia is used to ensure the electricity supply does not overheat and overload, so the loss is a significant one. The ammonia absorbs the heat, which is then transferred and expelled via radiator panels.  Commander Chris Hadfield, who spotted the leak on 9 May, is sounding as cool as ever though, and is  still tweeting incredible photos from space. Nasa has also stated that "the crew is not in danger".
