BitTorrent Sync rivals the cloud via peer-to-peer sharing

BitTorrent's Sync application lets users sync (hence the name) content across their devices creating an alternative to the cloud-based storage model.

Sync operates using a peer-to-peer (P2P) protocol similar to that used in BitTorrent itself and creates up-to-date copies of synced folders across any paired device. In comparison, cloud-based storage works using a third party data storage centre which can then be accessed from multiple locations.
